Grand Canal
The Edenderry branch of the Grand Canal was built between 1797 and 1802. One mile in length, it cost £692 to construct. A unique feature of this branch is the Blundell Aqueduct built in 1793, which carries the Grand Canal over the Rathangan road.
For over 150 years goods were carried on the canal to and from Dublin; goods traffic ceased in 1960. Today this waterway is a popular local amenity.
